Techsnoz

This Yahoo Group is the forum for the "Tech Talk" sessions that are held on Friday afternoons during our Lazy Daze caravans. The "Files" section of the site has Word documents that detail installations for LED tail lights, relays to solve the low rear end lighting voltage problem on pre-2004 Ford Lazy Daze rigs, cell phone antennas, GPS antennas, and many other write-ups that Lazy Dazers might find interesting.

RV.NET

A rich network of RV sites dedicated to serving enthusiasts of the open road, with links to (deep breath here) RV-related books, classified ads, directories, parks and campgrounds, products and accessories, accessory manufacturers, clubs, dealers, manufacturers, rentals, resources, services, travel and tourism, and yes - even RV-related TV shows. And they even have a discussion forum!

phred Tinseth's Poop Sheets

phred Tinseth says that his Poop Sheets came about "from making every mistake an RVer can possibly make during 20 years of full-timing" and that he sees "no point in you doing the same thing (but bet you will anyway)." With a great deal of humor, phred's Poop Sheets challenge "conventional RV wisdom" (which he believes is an oxymoron), and instead "stress doing things properly." His topics range from inverters and batteries to "sewer stuff" and electronic communications.

Escapees

The Escapees RV Club is dedicated to providing a total support network for RVers, full-timers and part-timers alike. Members of the Escapees enjoy benefits such as mail forwarding, free e-mail, and a voice messaging service. Some of the more unique benefits are a legal defense fund that is used for the protection of RVer's rights and CARE (Continuing Assistance for Retired Escapees), an adult day care center in Livingston, Texas, that allows you to stay in your RV and provides professional assistance for Escapee members whose travels are permanently ended because of age or temporarily interrupted because of health problems.

Road Trip USA

What a fun website! Sponsored by Avalon Travel Publishing, this site offers lots of fun information about sites to see along such roads as Highway 93, US 20, US 50, US 80 (just to name a few). For example, did you know that the very first motel was located in San Luis Obispo, California? We guarantee you that this website will whet your wanderlust!

National Scenic Byways Online

Under the National Scenic Byways Program, the U.S. Secretary of Transportation recognizes certain roads as National Scenic Byways or All-American Roads based on their archaeological, cultural, historic, natural, recreational, and scenic qualities. There are 95 such designated byways in 39 of our states. This website provides travelers with current and detailed information about these treasured roads.

Public RV Dump Sites

A listing of public dump stations that can be found in the United States and Canada. Scroll down the page for an alphabetical listing by state. A CD (for $10) listing dump stations and propane locations is also available.

GasPriceWatch.com

Want to check out gas prices in the area that you and your Lazy Daze are heading?

Then head on over to GasPriceWatch.com. This site - with the help of volunteer spotters - attempts to give folks current prices of gasoline (and heating oil) in both the United States and Canada. We say "attempts" because there are still many gas stations not represented. Anyone want to volunteer to be a spotter?

Be prepared for a medical emergency while you travel by carrying the Emergency Medical Information Form with you. We recommend that you complete one form for each person in your RV, and then place the form(s) in a plastic bag and put that bag in your RV freezer. Many folks place a red cross on the bag, or even on the outside of their freezer door.

The form is a PDF (Portable Document Format) file and you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer in order to view the form. Click here to download a free (yes, free, and it's legal!) copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader, or to get more information on Portable Document Format files. Follow the steps to download the software and then come back here and download your medical form. Then print it out, fill it out and get it into your RV. Be prepared...your family and friends will thank you!
